Description: Northern New York State Hospital is seeking a Locum BC Gastroenterologist for 24-hour call coverage with clinic and procedure responsibilities -- Full weeks preferred; full Monday–Sunday availability required; as many consecutive weeks as possible -- Monday–Friday during 24-hour call: office hours 8am–4pm; procedure hours 7:30am–3:30pm; maximum 2 procedure days per week -- Callback requires in-person return to hospital -- 8 hours of patient contact includes procedures and in-person consults; do not round unless asked -- Clinical scope includes evaluation and management of IBS, colitis, gastritis, hemorrhoids, Crohn’s disease, lactose intolerance, heartburn, GERD, ulcers, celiac disease, gallbladder disease, and GI-related cancers -- Diagnostic responsibilities include colonoscopy, endoscopy, X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound interpretation -- Procedures required: PEG tube placement, esophageal dilation, upper and lower endoscopy; EGD performed on site; ERCP and EUS referred out -- Post-surgical follow-up and specialty referral coordination as needed -- Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 2 years required -- No malpractice history accepted -- Active New York license required -- BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
